Obverse description Equestrian effigy of the king advancing to the right, depicted in profile, raising a cross aloft in his right hand; lilies appear at the side and below the horse. A dot in front of the horse distinguishes one variety from another. The design is executed in the bold, somewhat schematic style characteristic of medieval Hungarian hammered coinage.

Reverse description A crowned royal head facing full-front, depicted beneath a rounded pillared arch surmounted by a cross; small hoops flank the central cross atop the arch, and two additional crosses adorn the capitals or tops of the flanking pillars. The architectural framing is rendered in the stylised Romanesque manner typical of mid-thirteenth-century Hungarian deniers.
