| Obverse description | Central field depicting a raised benediction hand in profile, fingers extended upward in a blessing gesture, with the tip of the index finger touching the crosslet incorporated within the circular legend. The hand emerges from a cuffed base at the lower portion of the field. The surrounding Latin legend reads S STEP✠HANVS, invoking Saint Stephen, patron of the archbishopric, with a small crosslet separating the two halves of the name. The striking is characteristic of early eleventh-century hammered billon coinage, with somewhat irregular flan edges and variable legend placement. |
