Obverse description Stylized architectural facade of a fortified gatehouse depicted in crude hammered relief. An abbatial cross occupies the central doorway opening, while three small crosses are arranged along the battlemented parapet above the gateway. The overall rendering is characteristic of the schematic architectural types common to Low Countries ecclesiastical coinages of the mid-thirteenth century.

Reverse description A voided cross of Brabantine type, its arms extending to the coin's edge, adorned with a palm branch on either side of the vertical axis. Two annulets, each containing a central pellet, are placed in two of the angles formed by the arms of the cross, a decorative motif frequently encountered on ecclesiastical deniers of the Brabant region during this period.
