| Obverse description | Bracteate-style hammered silver denier exhibiting a centrally placed cross in high relief, the arms extending toward the four pinched corners of the flan. The field is unadorned and devoid of legend or inscription, consistent with the anonymous episcopal coinage of the early thirteenth century. The flan is irregular and thin, characteristic of the hand-hammered production technique employed at the Basel mint during this period. The surface shows natural age patina with darkened recesses accentuating the relief of the cross motif. |
