| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a schematic bust facing right, rendered in a rough, archaic hammered style characteristic of 11th-century feudal coinage. The effigy, attributed to Saint Mauritius, is depicted within a beaded or plain inner circle. The surrounding legend reads ✠ S MAVRICIVS in Latin majuscules, invoking the patron saint of the archbishopric. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-hammered production. The overall relief is low and the design elements are somewhat crude, reflecting the provincial workshop output of the period. |
