Obverse description A cross pattée centered within a beaded inner circle, with a small annulet (ring) placed in each of the second and third quarters formed by the arms of the cross. The circular legend AMALRICVS REX runs between the inner beaded circle and the outer beaded border, identifying the issuing king. The design is characteristic of Crusader hammered coinage, with a bold, slightly irregular strike typical of the period.
