Obverse description A plain cross with a small letter S in one of the opposite angles and three pellets in another angle, all contained within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin reads AMED COMES, identifying the issuer as Count Amadeus. The design imitates the Geneva denier type, reflecting the political and monetary influence of that city on Savoyard coinage of the period.
