| Reverse description | The reverse features a cross pattée enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the Greek letters alpha (Α) and omega (Ω) placed respectively in the first and fourth cantons, referencing the divine epithet from the Book of Revelation. A circular Latin legend invoking Saint Gertrude as Virgin surrounds the inner circle. The cross arms are boldly rendered, and the overall composition follows the standard Ottonian-Salian ecclesiastical denier type. The flan is irregular and the strike somewhat weak in areas, consistent with hammered abbatial coinage of the period. |
