Obverse description Crudely hammered field depicting a mounted warrior or princely figure in profile facing right, shown in a dynamic pose typical of late 14th-century Ruthenian coinage. The relief is bold but uneven, characteristic of hand-struck hammered silver of the period. Surrounding decorative pellet or bead elements are visible at the periphery. The flan is irregular with ragged edges consistent with cut and hammered production methods of the Kyivan principality coinage.

Additional information

Vladimir Olgerdovich ruled Kyiv as a Lithuanian prince from 1362 until 1394, when Vytautas the Great stripped him of the principality and replaced him with a direct appointee. His coinage belongs to a narrow window in the early 1390s, issued under pressure as Lithuanian central authority tightened. At roughly 0.285g, these dengas are among the lightest struck under his name — a reflection of the debased, fragmented monetary conditions of post-Mongol Rus rather than any specific minting reform.
