| Obverse description | Crowned horseman advancing to the right occupies the central field of this characteristic wire-money flan, the rider depicted in a schematic hammered style typical of Muscovite coinage of the early sixteenth century. The Cyrillic letter Ѳ (Fita) appears below the horse as a mint or die control mark. A partial circular Cyrillic legend surrounds the equestrian device, reading along the periphery of the irregularly shaped flan. The entire design reflects the crude but expressive die-engraving tradition of the Pskov mint operating under Grand Prince Vasiliy III. |
