Obverse description The obverse features the Imperial Russian double-headed eagle displayed in the centre of the field, with wings spread and each head surmounted by a crown, a third larger crown rising between the two heads. The eagle's talons grip a sceptre to the right and an orb to the left. A Cyrillic circular legend runs along the full periphery of the coin, reading the titles of Tsar Peter Alexeyevich. The design is rendered in a bold, somewhat archaic style characteristic of early Petrine copper coinage.
