Obverse description Crowned double-headed eagle displayed at center, with wings spread and two heads facing outward in opposite directions, rendered in a bold archaic style characteristic of early Petrine coinage. The eagle occupies the full field of the coin. A circular Cyrillic legend surrounds the device, reading the name and title of Tsar Peter Alexeyevich. The overall design reflects the transitional period of Russian coinage at the opening of the eighteenth century.

Reverse description The denomination inscription ДЕН ГА is prominently displayed in large Cyrillic characters across the center of the field in two lines, boldly struck and dominating the design. Below the denomination, the Cyrillic numeral date ҂АΨ (1700) appears in the lower field. A circular Cyrillic legend surrounding the central inscription reads the autocratic title of the ruler. The reverse design is characteristic of early copper Petrine denga coinage, with a plain, unadorned field and strong, naive lettering typical of the period.
