Reverse description The reverse bears a three-line Cyrillic inscription filling the field, reading a formulaic legend denoting the issuing authority of Great Novgorod. The lettering is executed in a bold, archaic Cyrillic hand typical of Novgorodian medieval coinage, with a border of pellets encircling the inscription. The characters are large and occupy nearly the entire flan, consistent with the epigraphic style of the Group II denga series struck between 1420 and 1478.
