| Obverse description | A mounted warrior depicted in right profile, seated upon a galloping horse with forelegs raised, brandishing a raised sabre in his right hand. The rider is rendered in a schematic but vigorous style characteristic of Muscovite wire money coinage. The irregular flan and hammered technique result in a slightly off-centre strike, with the horse and rider occupying the majority of the flat field. Scattered pellet devices appear in the upper field. |

| Reverse description | A three-line Cyrillic inscription filling the field, surmounted by a tilde-like ornamental device above the uppermost line of text. The legend reads КНSЬ ВЕЛIКI IВАН, denoting the title and name of Grand Duke Ivan, executed in the characteristic early Muscovite epigraphy of the mid-sixteenth century. The flat, unadorned field and the absence of a border are typical of hammered wire-money dengas of this period. |
