Additional information

Kashin was a minor appanage principality within the Tver lands, and Ivan Borisovich's coinage reflects exactly how contested that status was. His dengas were struck during a period when Kashin's princes were actively maneuvering between Tver and Moscow for political survival, using coin issuance partly as an assertion of autonomous authority. The principality was absorbed into Tver definitively by 1426, making any coinage attributable to its princes both chronologically compressed and politically charged.

Attribution of specific Kashin dengas remains difficult — many issues overlap stylistically with Tver coinage, and the assignment to Ivan Borisovich specifically rests on die studies rather than documentary evidence.
