Obverse description Two facing figures in the field, one of whom, likely a prince or posadnik, is depicted seated upon a chair or throne at left, while the second figure stands at right; both extend their left hands upward toward one another in a gesture of greeting or negotiation. The Cyrillic letter П appears prominently in the upper field above the figures. The flan is irregular and characteristic of hand-hammered medieval Russian coinage, with a somewhat crude but expressive die-engraving style typical of Novgorodian denga production.
