(Translation: Alphons, by God`s grace)
Reverse description The reverse displays a quartered shield divided by a bold central cross into four quadrants, each containing heraldic charges representing the composite territories of the Crown of Aragon. Visible in the quadrants are devices consistent with the arms of Aragon and Sardinia, including what appears to be a pales (vertical bars) motif and a concentric ring or annulet device. The surrounding Latin legend reads AR GO SAR DI, an abbreviation referencing Aragon and Sardinia. The strike is characteristic of hammered billon coinage, with an irregular flan and uneven surface relief. Despite significant wear and corrosion, the quartered heraldic composition remains the dominant and defining feature of the design.
