Reverse description Full-length frontal figure of Saint Donatus, Bishop of Arezzo, standing in episcopal vestments with nimbus and mitre, his right hand raised in the act of benediction and his left hand holding a crozier. The saint's head and feet extend beyond the inner beaded circle, interrupting the surrounding circular legend at top and bottom. The composition reflects the hieratic, linear style characteristic of central Italian communal hammered coinage of the early fourteenth century.
Reverse script Latin
Reverse lettering PP: SD N*ATVS
(Translation: Pontifex Pontificum SAN DONATUS; in the field, the saint nimbate and mitred in vestments, standing facing, blessing with his right hand and holding a crozier in his left, his head and feet cutting the inner circle and the legend)
