| Reverse description | Central field displays a Gothic or uncial letter, possibly an initial or heraldic device, set within a beaded or plain inner circle. The legend runs around the periphery of the flan, identifying the issuer as King of Sicily, separated by a cross at the beginning and punctuated by raised pellets. The strike is characteristically weak on portions of the flan, leaving some areas of the inscription partially legible. The hammered billon fabric results in a heavily granular and uneven surface throughout. The overall style is consistent with other Hohenstaufen denari struck in the Kingdom of Sicily during the reign of Manfred. |
