Obverse description A prominent fleur-de-lis occupies the center of the field within a raised inner circle, flanked on each side by two pellets at the upper portion of the design. The fleur-de-lis is rendered in a bold, stylized medieval manner characteristic of 13th-century North Italian hammered coinage. The surrounding legend runs clockwise along the outer border between two linear circles. The coin's irregular flan and slightly concave fabric are consistent with the scyphate hammered technique typical of Aquileian denari of this period.
