Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Vitellius facing right, with a small globe placed at the point of the neck truncation. The portrait is rendered in the typical Roman imperial style, displaying fleshy jowls and naturalistic hair beneath the laurel wreath. The encircling Latin legend reads A VITELLIVS IMP GERMAN, interrupted by the portrait, and is bounded by an inner beaded border. As a fourrée contemporary counterfeit, the base bronze core is visible where the silver plating has worn through, particularly evident across the fields and high-relief areas of the effigy.
