Reverse description Two right hands clasped together in a dextrarum iunctio, a traditional Roman symbol of loyalty, alliance, and military fidelity, depicted in strong relief at the centre of the field. The type was specifically chosen by Vitellius to celebrate the allegiance of the legions that had proclaimed him emperor. The legend FIDES EXERCITVVM is distributed in two lines, with FIDES appearing above the clasped hands and EXERCITVVM in the lower field, the whole enclosed within a plain border.
