Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Vitellius facing right, with strong, fleshy features rendered in a naturalistic style typical of Julio-Claudian portraiture. The bust is bare-necked and truncated at the shoulder. The surrounding legend reads A VITELLIVS GERM IMP AVG TR P, distributed around the full circumference of the coin in incuse Latin capitals. The portrait occupies the central field with confident relief, and the coin's irregular flan edge is characteristic of hand-struck Roman silver of the period.
