| Obverse description | Bare-headed laureate bust of Vitellius facing right, depicted with characteristic heavy jowls and thick neck, rendered in the veristic portrait tradition of the early imperial period. The legend encircles the bust, reading A VITELLIVS GERM IMP AVG TR P. The portrait is boldly modeled in high relief, consistent with denarii struck at the Rome mint during Vitellius's brief reign in AD 69. A piercing hole is visible at the top of the flan, indicating later use as a pendant or suspension piece. |
