She extends her right arm forward, feeding a serpent that rises from an altar set before her, a standard iconographic motif symbolising health, welfare, and divine protection of the state. Her left arm rests at her side. The legend SALVS AVGVST is distributed in the field to either side of the figure. The composition is balanced and reflects the refined engraving style of the Rome Mint under the Flavian dynasty. |
