Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the veristic portrait tradition characteristic of early Flavian coinage, with naturalistic features including a broad forehead and strong jaw. The laureate wreath is visible above the brow. The encircling legend IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG runs along the periphery of the flan, partially visible due to the irregular strike. The portrait is boldly modelled in high relief against a flat field, consistent with the hand-engraved dies of the early Roman Imperial period.
