Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, rendered in the naturalistic Roman imperial portrait style characteristic of the Flavian dynasty. The emperor's features are depicted with individualistic realism, including a broad forehead and strong jaw. The encircling legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG, distributed around the periphery of the flan. A beaded border frames the design. The die work is typical of the Rome mint under Vespasian, with competent if somewhat worn engraving.
