Obverse description Laureate head of Vespasian facing right, with a slightly fleshy, naturalistic portrait typical of Flavian dynastic coinage. The emperor is depicted with a draped bust, the drapery visible at the truncation of the shoulder. The encircling legend reads IMP CAESAR VESPASIANVS AVG in raised Latin capitals, running clockwise around the periphery of the flan. The die work reflects the confident engraving style of the Rome Mint under Vespasian, emphasizing the emperor's mature, authoritative features. The flan is slightly irregular, characteristic of hand-struck silver coinage of the period.
