Reverse description A circular clipeus (round shield) inscribed S C occupies the central field, set atop a low cylindrical column, upon which rests a cinerary urn, evoking the consecratio iconography associated with imperial apotheosis. A laurel branch is positioned to the left and another to the right of the column, framing the composition symmetrically. The abbreviated legend EX appears in the field, referencing the senatorial authorization formula. The overall reverse design is a direct allusion to the posthumous deification and funerary honours granted to Vespasian by his son and successor Titus.
