Reverse description The goddess Ceres depicted standing to the left in full figure, draped in long robes, holding in her extended right hand a bundle of corn ears and a poppy, and in her left hand a long vertical sceptre. The deity is rendered in the classical Roman allegorical tradition, associating Flavian imperial authority with agricultural abundance and divine patronage. The abbreviated Latin legend CERES AVGVST is disposed in the field to either side of the figure, identifying the goddess in her imperial epithet.
