| Obverse description | Bare-necked laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in high relief with finely engraved hair tied with a laurel wreath, the ends of which fall behind the neck in characteristic early Trajanic style. The portrait is strong and idealized, with sharp facial features typical of the Roman Imperial workshops of the Rome mint. The encircling Latin legend runs clockwise from the lower left, separated from the portrait by a narrow, slightly irregular flan border. |
