Obverse description Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered with strong portraiture characteristic of the Trajanic period. The emperor's effigy is depicted with his characteristic close-cropped hair beneath a laurel wreath, the drapery visible at the base of the bust on the left shoulder. The surrounding circular legend reads in capital Latin characters, commencing from the lower left. The flan is irregular in shape, as typical of hand-struck Roman silver coinage of this era.
