Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, with drapery on the left shoulder, struck in high relief in the confident, idealized portrait style characteristic of the Trajanic period. The laureate wreath is rendered with crisp detail, its ties descending behind the neck. The encircling legend fills the field to the beaded border at the coin's rim, and the portrait projects the emperor's martial authority consistent with official imperial iconography of the early second century AD.
