Reverse description A capricorn — a hybrid creature with the forequarters of a goat and the tail of a fish — is depicted in dynamic leaping posture to the right, with a globe beneath its foreleg. This reverse type alludes to the divine favour accorded to the Flavian dynasty and echoes Augustan zodiacal imagery. The scene is rendered with vigorous engraving typical of the Rome mint under Titus. The surrounding legend TR P VIIII IMP XV COS VII P P is arranged in a continuous circular band, recording Titus's tribunician and consular titulature for AD 79.
