Additional information

Struck while Titus held his sixth consulship under Vespasian, this denarius predates his own reign by two years — he would not become emperor until 79 AD, following his father's death in June of that year. The same months saw Titus overseeing the final administration of Judaea in the aftermath of the Jerusalem siege, a campaign he had concluded in 70 AD with the destruction of the Second Temple. RIC II.1 950 is among the more frequently encountered Flavian dynastic issues, reflecting the mint's deliberate output of coinage bearing Titus's name and titles to normalize his position as heir apparent.
