Obverse description Bare, bearded head of the Sabine king Titus Tatius facing right, rendered with bold, emphatic features including thick wavy hair swept back from the brow and a prominent curled beard rendered in globular strands. The portrait fills the flan with vigorous high relief characteristic of late Roman Republican die-cutting. The ethnic legend SABIN appears to the left of the portrait in the field, identifying the depicted figure. A border of dots frames the design along the coin's periphery.
