| Obverse description | Bare head of Pompey the Great facing right, rendered in the veristic portrait style characteristic of late Republican coinage. A jug (capis) appears in the left field behind the head, and a lituus (augural staff) in the right field before it. The encircling legend reads MAG•PIVS•IMP•ITER, distributed around the portrait. The design is contained within a border of dots. |

| Reverse description | Neptune standing left, nude but for a chlamys draped over his left arm, wearing a diadem, his right foot placed upon the prow of a ship (prow left). He holds an aplustre (stern ornament) in his extended right hand. At his sides stand the Catanaean brothers Anapias and Amphinomus, each carrying a parent upon his shoulders in an act of filial piety. The legend PRÆF•CLAS•ET•ORÆ•MARIT•EX•S•C is distributed above and in the exergue, with MAR rendered as a monogram and the letters AE ligatured. The reverse is enclosed within a border of dots. |
