| Obverse description | Diademed and draped bust of King Ptolemy of Mauretania facing right, his hair rendered in short, layered curls in the Hellenistic royal tradition. The royal diadem is clearly visible across the forehead, reflecting the king's dual Hellenistic and North African heritage. The legend REX PTOLEMAEVS encircles the effigy, identifying the issuer in Latin. The portrait is executed in a competent provincial style blending Roman numismatic conventions with Hellenistic royal imagery.
