Obverse description Diademed terminal bust of Jupiter facing right, rendered in fine Republican style with elaborately beaded diadem, wavy hair, and a short beard. The herm-like truncation of the bust terminates abruptly below the shoulders, a distinctive feature of this issue's iconographic type. The legend VARRO•PRO•Q curves along the left field, identifying the issuing magistrate Marcus Terentius Varro in his capacity as proquaestor. The design is enclosed by a neat border of dots.
