Obverse description Curule chair (sella curulis) depicted facing, flanked by an arrow to the left and a laurel branch to the right, both emblems of consular authority. The legend Q•POMPEI•Q•F RVFVS COS arcs above the central device, identifying the moneyer Quintus Pompeius Rufus, son of Quintus, in his capacity as consul. An inscribed tablet appears in the exergue. The composition is enclosed by a border of dots, consistent with late Republican moneyer coinage conventions.
