| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Pescennius Niger facing right, rendered with a short beard and strongly modelled facial features characteristic of late 2nd-century provincial portraiture. The laurel wreath is rendered with individual leaves visible across the crown of the head. The surrounding legend, struck in Latin capitals, runs clockwise from the lower left through the upper field. The flan is irregular and slightly ragged at the edge, consistent with provincial Syrian mint production of the period. |
