Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Pescennius Niger facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Antioch mint. The effigy displays the emperor's curly hair beneath a laurel wreath, with drapery visible at the shoulder truncation. The surrounding Latin legend is distributed around the periphery of the flan. The die work is competent but reflects the urgency of a usurper's coinage produced outside the capital, with the flan showing slight irregularity at the edges.
Obverse script Latin
Obverse lettering IMP CAES C PESC NIGER IVS AVG COS II
(Translation: Supreme commander (Imperator), Caesar, Gaius Pescennius Niger. Justice of the emperor (Augustus). Consul for the second time)
