| Obverse description | Octavian depicted in military attire driving a triumphal quadriga to the right, holding a laurel branch and reins. The four horses are rendered in vigorous forward motion with detailed musculature characteristic of late Republican die-cutting. A decorated triumphal car with a large spoked wheel is visible beneath the figure. The scene commemorates Octavian's triple triumph of 29 BC following the defeats of Antony and Cleopatra. A partial legend appears in the exergue. |
