Obverse description Bare head of Octavian (the young Augustus) facing right, rendered in a youthful, idealized portrait style typical of his pre-Augustan coinage. The finely detailed hair is combed forward in short locks across the forehead. The truncation of the neck is plain, without drapery. The encircling legend reads CAESAR III VIR R P C, distributed around the field close to the coin's edge. This is a restitution issue struck under Trajan, faithfully reproducing the original Triumviral-era type.
