Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Nerva facing right, rendered in the restrained, realistic portrait style characteristic of Flavian-era coinage. The emperor's features are depicted with age lines and a slightly open mouth, conveying his mature countenance. The legend encircles the bust beginning at the lower left, reading IMP NERVA CAES AVG P M TR P COS III P P in incuse Latin capitals. The flan is slightly irregular in shape, typical of hand-struck Roman silver coinage of this period.
