| Obverse description | Laureate bust of Nero facing right, with finely rendered curly hair and short beard, the laurel wreath tied at the back of the head. The portrait displays the characteristic full-faced, fleshy features associated with Nero's later coinage. The circumferential legend reads NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, distributed around the bust in well-spaced Latin capitals. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hammered silver coinage of the Neronian period. |
