Obverse description Laureate bust of Nero facing right, rendered with characteristic fleshy features, a strong jaw, and elaborately curled hair arranged in tiers over the forehead and falling to the nape of the neck. The emperor is depicted bare-necked with a draped shoulder visible at the bust truncation. The circumferential Latin legend reads NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, distributed around the full periphery of the flan. The portrait is executed in high relief with confident die-cutting typical of the Rome Mint in the early Neronian period.
