Obverse description Confronted busts of Nero and Agrippina the Younger: Nero, bare-headed, faces left, while Agrippina the Younger, draped with her hair dressed in a long plait falling behind, faces right. The two imperial effigies are presented face-to-face in a distinctive compositional arrangement emphasizing the joint authority of mother and adopted son in the early reign. The surrounding Latin legend identifies both figures by their full imperial titulature.
