Reverse description A consecratio eagle, symbol of imperial apotheosis, stands facing right upon a sceptre, its head turned back to the left in a heraldic pose with wings spread. The bold Latin legend CONSECRATIO arcs around the field, referencing the formal deification rite granted to Matidia by her son-in-law Hadrian upon her death in AD 119. The composition is enclosed within a beaded border, consistent with Hadrianic mint production at Rome.
