| Reverse description | A legionary aquila (eagle standard) with spread wings is depicted facing left at centre, mounted on a shaft, flanked symmetrically on either side by a military signum (legionary standard), each comprising a staff topped with a circular disc decorated with pellets and terminating in a downward-pointing spearhead. The arrangement of the three standards reflects Mark Antony's practice of honouring individual legions on his coinage. The encircling legend LEG XII ANTIQVAE identifies this issue as struck for Legio XII Antiqua, one of Antony's veteran legions. The design is framed by a border of dots. |
